Peter was raised on a farm located 60 miles north of Minneapolis, Minnesota. While working several jobs to pay for his education, he graduated cum laude and with honors from the University of Minnesota in 1987 and graduated cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1990.
Furthering his study of the estate, gift, and generation-skipping taxes, Peter earned an LL.M. in Taxation from the top-ranked NYU tax program. An LL.M. is an intensive one-year program focusing on a single area of the law that is in addition to the typical three-year J.D. program.
Following a family tradition of military service, Peter served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy JAG Corp. In 1992, the Navy awarded his team of attorneys a Meritorious Unit Commendation for providing estate planning services to more than 10,000 service members deployed to the Middle East during Desert Storm/Desert Shield.
After leaving the Navy, Peter focused his practice in the area of estates and trusts. By concentrating his practice exclusively on estates, Peter can provide his clients with an understanding of the subtleties, including the most recent changes in the gift, estate, inheritance, and generation-skipping taxes.
Since founding his firm in 1998, Peter’s estate planning practice has flourished, and he now represents clients throughout the country.

Peter provided outstanding advice and preparation of a will and trusts.
Peter and his associates made things easy for us.
I was referred to Peter after my divorce to put documents together to protect my assets. He suggested a number of documents that would help protect my children and their future. Also, he put together wills, power of attorney and living wills. I initially spoke with him on the phone, he took 30-40 minutes to understand my situation and explain the benefits of having such documents. After a week or two, I met with him in his office and signed the documents. Everything else was remote phone calls and emails. He re-explained these documents and what whom to share. I am in good hands.
